Northumberland County is comprised of four tourism regions.
Heritage shores in the west of the county, encompassing the towns of Port Hope and Cobourg, along Lake Ontario and the townships to the north in the Rice Lake region. The Apple Route in the east including Brighton and Colborne and the townships along Ontario's Heritage highway also know as the Apple Route. River Country spreads out from the banks of the historic Trent Severn Waterway and snuggles into the hills of Northeastern Northumberland. Rice Lake and Alderville encompasses Bewdley, Harwood, Gores Landing, Roseneath and the Alderville First Nation Territory in this central region south of Rice Lake.
This rich tourism region highlights the upscale tourism of Port Hope, Cobourg's beaches and wellness tourism, rich agri-tourism, fine heritage architecture, extensive cultural attractions and native culture. Water based recreational activity is plentiful. Forests, nature reserves and recreation areas proliferate and Presqu'ile Point Provincial Park to the east is a campers delight
