        The largest community in the district, The City of North Bay (Population 53,000) is situated on the eastern shores of Lake Nipissing and is located 430 kilometers (268 miles) east of Sault Ste. Marie, 345 kilometers (215 miles) north of Toronto and 365 kilometers (228 miles) to the northwest of Ottawa.
